Some of the common causes of failure in the bolted connection of an electrical contact are:
- Loss of preload due to increased settling amounts because of high number of joints when using multi-part bolt lockings or because of different coefficients of thermal expansion of the bolts and the conductor materials or because of reduced torque during the assembly of the conductive materials in copper and aluminium.
- Loosening of connection due to inherent vibrations
- Damage to conductor materials and chip formation, as soft conductive materials are highly susceptible to damage

The lock washer NSK-E provides effective and permanent security when you connect electrical contacts. Safe connections of electrical contacts are characterised by uniform contact pressure in a defined range as well as permanent contact pressure. In addition, there is optimum corrosion protection, anti-loosening effect and protection of the mating surfaces.
