RFID-based Kanban: CPS®RFID technology for maximum supply security
Faster, more transparent, more secure — radio frequency identification, or RFID for short, is a firmly established system for managing the replenishment of production material in manufacturing industries and is a key building block within an efficient value chain. As a C-Parts system partner, we have made use of this technology within industrial KANBAN systems for lean inventory management, automated mapping of repeat orders and identification of fluctuations in demand at an early stage. The systems from the CPS®RFID family therefore enable even higher supply security than with traditional Kanban processing.
CPS®RFID stands for...
- C-Parts solutions with radio frequency identification
- Radio transmission of the item and bin data directly from the customer's production facility to our central warehouse
- Early recognition of demand fluctuations
- Automated repeat orders without the need for scanning or manual entry
The RFID tag at the Kanban bin
We use systems with passive RFID transponders. The RFID tag, a simple data medium, is used as the basis for every data transmission operation and stores all data such as the bin type, item number, description, quantity and batch. The requirement is then triggered via customised iSHELF®, iBOX®, iBOX®flex or iDROPBOX® systems or via other standardised systems.
Using the intelligent pallet box, data for your C-Parts is transferred immediately via RFID to a separate storage position as soon as an empty bin is placed there.
Benefits: Process integrated and simple data transfer and order transfer, ideal for pallet Kanban
The iBOX®flex is the first pallet box on the market that can operate two Kanban systems in production simultaneously. It is suitable for both two-bin Kanban systems and pallet Kanban systems.
This is made possible by the unique design of iBOX®flex. This includes, firstly, an extending drawer for all empty bins, which means ease of handling for the foreman, logistics specialist or fitter in production. Secondly, the iBOX®flex contains a separate compartment on the side for RFID tags from the pallet Kanban.
The iGATE enables the simultaneous data transfer of a multitude of bins.
The iGATE is also the right solution for checking incoming and outgoing goods.
iPLACER® combines the work station with the production supplies. Because of the positioning directly at the work station the order is placed at the place of consumption.
For more flexibility the iPLACER® can be placed at different locations in the production. For example at the flow rack.
The system is not only ordering. It can also be used for the stock monitoring.
With iPUSH®, ordering is triggered by pressing the button integrated into the RFID label on the bin.
Data is transferred immediately via the intelligent shelf on which the empty bin bearing the RFID tag is positioned.
Multiple racks can be operated by a shelf rack structure. Without any power connection at all.
Benefits: No additional space demand, maximum flexibility by different rack sizes
Data is transferred immediately via the dropbox as soon as a RFID tag from the empty bin or a pallet card is positioned nearby the dropbox. The light indicates a successful RFID reading.
Your C-Parts are ordered automatically via the iTAGBOX® (Kanban RFID).
Benefits: Especially for your pallet Kanban
In the iTURN® and iROTATE® are systems, turning the bin triggers the data transfer via RFID and thus repeat ordering of the item. Only the construction of the rack distinguishes these two standard modules.
Automatic data transfer is triggered by iWEIGHT® if the weight of a bin falls below the predefined minimum level and is triggered by iSKID® if the level drops below the minimum for a pallet.
