Reference: Oikos Group – Automated supply solutions for sustainable prefabricated house construction
The Oikos Group is one of the leading manufacturers of prefabricated houses in Europe and brings the three long-standing brands Bien-Zenker, Hanse Haus and Living Haus under one roof. Since 2025, another two strong brands have further strengthened the Group: the lichtecht GmbH – an expert in high-end 3D visualisations, as well as the Oikos Objektbau GmbH – an innovative division for modular building solutions in the commercial and public sector with a focus on sustainable modular construction and serial renovation.
Together, the brands under this Group stand for quality, innovation and sustainable construction – and make dream homes a reality across Europe. With over 115 years of experience and more than 1600 houses delivered in the year 2024, the Oikos Group is one of the largest and most experienced stakeholders in the German prefabricated house construction industry.
The Oikos Group stands for future-oriented construction with responsibility. Its holistic approach brings together ecological, economic and social sustainability – from energy-efficient timber construction to resource-efficient processes to a transparent, certified management system. The result is a sustainable living space for the future generations and a reliable partnership that perfectly aligns with the philosophy of Würth Industrie Service.
The challenge
Prefabricated house construction is characterised by complex manufacturing processes and wide variety. Thousands of different fasteners, screws and technical chemicals need to be available exactly when they are required – at multiple locations, in various areas of production and with maximum process reliability.
Therefore, the Oikos Group was looking for a solution that could not only guarantee a stable supply, but also ensure efficiency and transparency across the entire value chain simultaneously.
The solution: Intelligent C-Parts management across multiple locations
Since six years, the Oikos Group and Würth Industrie Service have been working together as partners. What started as the first pilot project in 2019 has now developed into a comprehensive, cross-location C-Parts supply.
After the successful test installation of RFID Kanban system for Hanse Haus in January 2019, it was implemented that same year in December at Bien-Zenker. Since then, the system has been growing continuously. In 2022, both the partners overcame challenging times together that were marked by the global pandemic, supply chain disruptions and scarcity of resources – and underscored the importance of a stable, reliable cooperation once again. In 2023, the system was expanded to the Schlüchtern site, in order to meet the increased material requirement optimally.
Today, the Oikos Group relies on a multi-stage supply concept:
At Hanse Haus, the RFID Kanban system iSHELF® is in operation at three storage locations, fully automating reordering. Bien-Zenker uses Kanban systems at nine storage locations, which enables easy, digital reordering directly at the place of consumption. The concept is complemented by Palette Kanban solutions for bulk quantities in main warehouse as well as Bin Kanban systems for production-related supply. Würth Industrie Service gets an overview of the inventory, consumption and replenishment orders via Würth statistics at any time – transparent, efficient and in real time.
Technical support and product expertise
One of the most important success factors of the collaboration lies in the combination of logistical system concept and technical support. The focus of the supply is on timber construction screws and fasteners for construction of timber structures, complemented by an assortment of over 1,500 items – from anchors and special connections to technical chemicals.
Moreover, Würth Industrie Service also assists the Oikos Group with its technical expertise. Be it for queries related to the appropriate connection technology, to special requirements in fire safety or for constructive solutions – the technical specialists support with their know-how and individual recommendations. Regular coordination on new product packages and dimensions ensures that the assortment remains perfectly aligned with the needs of production.
The result: Efficiency, supply security and sustainability
Introduction of the automated Kanban system has significantly simplified the workflows in material supply for the Oikos Group. Inventory is now visible with complete transparency, reordering is taken care of automatically and supply security has increased significantly. At the same time, optimised processes contribute to sustainability by using the reusable bin technology and resource-efficient use of materials. The result is a modern, digital and secure C-Parts supply that meets the high demands of prefabricated house construction and creates scope for further growth.
Partnership in tandem
The collaboration between the Oikos Group and the Würth Industrie Service is full of trust, innovative spirit and the common approach for continuously improving processes. What started as a classical supplier-client relationship has now evolved into a collaborative success story, in which both the parties benefit because of each other – the Oikos Group benefits due to the efficient and reliable supply and Würth Industrie Service has gained a strong partner in the promising market of prefabricated house construction.
